Southwold RFC Club History
Founded in 1964, Southwold Rugby Club initially fielded one team. Today the club comprises a first and second 15, a ladies 15, The Sharks, comprising under17s, under 14/15s and under 13s and The Seagulls Minis, comprising under 7s, under 8s, under 9s/10s and under 11/12s
In the early days of the club facilities were somewhat rudimentary. Southwold’s Harbour Inn served as a changing facility, club house and match tea venue. The current clubhouse was built in the late 60s and early 70s, being repeatedly extended to provide the clubhouse that stands today.
The splendid new ‘William Godell Pavilion’ on Southwold Common is now open & available for hire.
The excellent club room (13m2), with views over the common & Sole Bay, is suitable for a range of activities including keep-fit, yoga, dance, children’s parties, dinners, meetings, conferences & receptions. Bar & catering facilities are also available & there is ample parking.
